This piece is #47 of 50 Publisher’s Proof limited edition hand- painted character cel set-ups from the making of The Lion King.  In this scene, “Family Pride”, proud parents Simba and Nala look on as Rafiki cradles their newborn cub in his arms, a continuation of the great circle of life.  The approximate size of the cel is 9 1/2 in X 16 1/4 in.  The artists have recreated this cel using the original animation drawings transferred to acetate cels by a six-step process.  The background scene was recreated using the original background as reference.
